The South Australia Committee of 黑料社 takes pleasure in inviting Members and their Guests to a Christmas Cocktail Reception.
Fund Member Peter Walker has very kindly provided his art gallery as the venue for our event. There will be delightful food and wine and most importantly - no formalities and no speeches - just a wonderfully convivial evening.
All proceeds will go towards the conservation and maintenance of the exquisite 鈥榊arralumla cabinet鈥 by Geoffrey Hannah OAM, currently on display at Government House, Canberra. The cabinet has been on prominent display in a public reception area of the House since The Fund acquired it in 1992.
Derived from the 鈥榗abinet-on-stand鈥 style, popular in the 17th century, it has over 22 different timbers from all over the world represented in the Australian flora and fauna doors, and also in the construction of the sixty-four drawers and secret compartments. The colours of the timbers are all natural with different shades achieved by burnishing the timber in hot sand.
It is regularly opened to demonstrate the intricacies of the workmanship and marquetry and so, we need to ensure it is maintained in excellent condition.
